Drawn & Cornered
Jeff Badger & Harold Philbrook
installation and performance at Portland Museum of Art

Friday December 7, 2012

This performance was one of fourteen installations and happenings that made up Nightlight, an artist "intervention" organized by Kimberly Convery.

With assistance from Ted Hummel, patrons made drawings on sticky notes in the Great Hall and brought them up the stairs to the first floor landing, where Harold and I - wearing clinical/pod-men costumes with luminous helmets - were inside two drawing labs/pods built into the bay windows of the museum. Patrons inserted their drawings into a slot in the middle of the pod, and the drawings were stuck up on the clear walls of the pod from the inside. Harold and I also created our own drawings while inside the pods. Over the course of the two-hour event the walls of the pod were eventually obscured by the drawings on both sides, viewable from the inside and the outside of the museum.
